Dr. Katherine O’Brien

AVMA member, FVMA member, Board of Directors @ Marion County Veterinary Medical Association
Board of Directors @ Pet Emergency Treatment Services in Ocala
Speaker @ Veterinary Practice Solutions Conference

Dr. O’Brien has been a lover and admirer of the beauty and innocence of animals since she was a little girl. Her dreams of becoming a veterinarian in order to help and speak for animals came true when she graduated from Louisiana State University in 2007. She purchased Maricamp Animal Hospital in 2012 with the purpose of creating an environment that always advocated for the animals no matter what the situation. Dr. O’Brien knew the only way to do this and be able to be the saving voice for other animals in the community and statewide was to become a Veterinarian. She saves hundreds of lives every year. Her passions are for the pets of course but also her family. She is married to the wonderful Dr. Alberto Rullan and they have two boys that are learning to love animals as much as their parents. Their household also includes Blue, a Labrador, Henry, a toy fox terrier, Xylazine, a midsize mix breed & too many horses to count.

Dr. Herman

Maricamp Animal Hospital is proud to announce our partnership with Dr. Herman and Kinetic Pets.

Dr. Herman has wanted to help pets ever since he was a child. He graduated from Purdue University as a double major in Animal Science and Biology. He was then fortunate enough to obtain early entry for his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University. Upon finishing at Purdue, he went on to an internship at the world-renowned Animal Medical Center in New York City. He completed a 3-year surgical residency at MedVet in Columbus, Ohio where he really developed his passion for minimally invasive orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation. He has advanced training in rehabilitation through the University of Tennessee.

The human-animal bond was the driving factor that led Dr. Herman to veterinary medicine. Seeing the impact that animals have on individuals and families is astounding! He loves hearing the stories of how much the patients mean to their pet parents. Over the years, he has noticed how much an injured pet’s impaired movement strains the bond between the pet and the pet’s parents. This is the driving force that created Kinetic Pets. His goal is to strengthen the bond between his patients and their pet parents by improving their mobility through minimally invasive surgical and rehabilitation procedures to be free from pain as fast as possible. He treats each case as an individual to determine the best possible treatment plan in the most minimally invasive procedure.

Outside of orthopedic surgery he enjoys spending time with his family, going to football games, golfing, traveling and home improvements.
