Maricamp Animal Hospital is proud to offer acupuncture as an adjunct treatment for a variety of medical problems.
Acupuncture is the insertion of tiny needles into specific points on the body to promote health and prevent or treat diseases. It is a safe and healthy procedure and while your pet may feel a slight sensation, such as a tingle, due to the needles, they will feel no pain or no stress through the entire procedure.
Acupuncture has many positive benefits for your pet. It can improve many physiological changes such as:
- An increase in blood circulation
- Stimulation of nerves
- Relief of muscle spasms
- A release of hormones like endorphins for pain
Our acupuncture is done by Dr. Kathy Otero who is dedicated to providing the best acupuncture treatment to your pet.
Acupuncture can be used alone, or for optimal results, in combination with conventional western medicine and surgery. It may be used to treat many diverse conditions, including:
- Back pain
- Behavioral disorders
- It may also improve the quality of life for geriatric and cancer patients
